Rosecrans Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue Bridges

In late 2012, Caltrans will improve the Santa Ana Freeway (I-5) from Shoemaker Avenue to Silverbow Avenue in Norwalk by constructing a High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) or carpool lane, and one mixed-flow lane in each direction for vehicles with two or more passengers. In addition, three structures will be widened including the Shoemaker Avenue overcrossing, Rosecrans Avenue undercrossing and the Bloomfield Avenue undercrossing. To enhance public safety, a pedestrian overcrossing will be constructed at Silverbow Avenue. Significant interchange improvements will be made at Rosecrans Avenue including constructing a southbound on-ramp and upgrading the inside and outside shoulder to the standard width. The project investment is $214 million and is expected to be completed in early 2016.
