 I-5 Ventura Freeway  (SR-134) to Magnolia Blvd. Project, Verdugo Bridge (Overcrossing) Construction

The girders were placed on June 30, 2014.  The girders will help support the widening of I-5 for a new HOV (carpool) lanes.

Sneak Peek of New SR-170 to I-5 Connector

The new northbound SR-170 to northbound I-5 connector will open to traffic this Wednesday morning, May 8th at 5 a.m.! In the meantime, we offer you the following video sneak peek of Los Angeles’ newest freeway connector. This footage was shot last week — before striping and other finishing touches. (1:04)

I-5/SR-170 Direct Bridge Connector – Status Update

The I-5/SR-170 Bridge Connector is a one way 3-lane connector going from northbound SR-170 to northbound I-5. This connector merges traffic from the right side of northbound SR-170 to the right side of northbound I-5. It is expected to be completed and open to traffic in early Spring 2013. (3:08)

I-5/SR-14 Direct HOV Connector – Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) on Friday, January 11, 2013, held the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the completed I-5/SR-14 Direct HOV Connector. The connector will allow motorists to transfer between freeways without exiting the carpool lane. (4:32)

The I-5/SR-14 direct HOV connector opened to traffic on December 13, 2013. This video shows you what it looked like about a week before it opened. It was almost finished, but still lacked signs, striping and other safety features. (3:16)

I-5/SR-14 Direct HOV Connector – Completed

Caltrans built an elevated two-lane carpool lane connector (known as a direct HOV connector) at the I-5/SR-14 interchange and built a high occupancy vehicle (HOV, or carpool) lanes in both direction of I-5 at the interchange. (4:33)

I-5 Truck Lane Update, October 2012

Caltrans is building a truck lane on southbound I-5 between Pico Canyon Road/Lyons Avenue and SR-14, a distance of 3.7 miles. In this construction update, you’ll see what crews are working on and learn more about the project from the Caltrans construction team. (4:59)
